How can my community organization get involved?

The Neighborhood Tutoring Program has been collaborating with other community-based organizations that are incorporating the NTP-model into their after-school programs since 2000. We are excited about the partnerships forming and the opportunity to serve more children throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. Partners who are currently using the FLOC model include Beacon House, Asian American LEAD, New Community for Children, and Neighborhood Learning Center.

Participation in the NTP-partnership includes:

  • 20-hour Management Training:
  • Information on Tutor & Student Recruitment
  • Tutor Training and Orientation
  • Program Set-Up and Daily Sessions
  • Data Base Management
  • Administrative Responsibilities
  • Management and Supervision
  • 6-hour Tutor Training in the reading and mathematics curricula
  • Site-visits
  • 18 month support, technical assistance and regular reflection sessions with participating organizations
  • The final goal being self-sufficiency for each participating program within 18 months.
